I bought these skates for my 10 year old as her first pair or starter skates. She took to them very quickly and manages them w/o incident. She is at the lower end of the adjustable size limit now and I expect from the solid feel of the skate and the design that she will be able to wear them for at least a few more years. My wife tried the skates and she claims to be a size 8 but said they are too tight. The skate looks and feels like a an adult style skate rather than a toys. It has a girl-ish design that may or may not be to your kids taste.

The skates are great and my grandaughter loves them. We did get size 1-4 but sizes 1 and 2 seemed small for her. She had to make them a size 3 to be comfortable with socks. They are light weight and she is skating all over the neighborhood. I asked her if she liked her new skates and she said, "Grandma, I love them."

I would have rated these five stars if it wasn't for the left buckle not latching. The little plastic piece on the buckle was broken right out of the box. I would have returned them however the tags were removed before this discovery and their restocking fees are horrendous. I taped the buckle in the closed position and help my daughter tighten that skate each time. Beyond the buckle issue, these skates are awesome. Light, smooth, and stylish to my 9 year old. I am assuming that the issue I had was a fluke. If you get these skates with TWO working buckles you will not be disappointed.
